On this half-day course, participants will be guided through each step involved in forging, shaping, and finishing a wizarding wand.
Made from 10mm steel bar, each participant will heat up the steel to over 1000 degree temperatures in our forge, and will form the wand shape with a hammer and anvil, before using a Dremel and twisting jig to add more subtle details. Finally, straightening, polishing and finishing will make each wand extremely durable - suitable for providing high levels of protection against dark wizards.
There are typically three types of wand which can be chosen:
- Rubik's Twist Handle, wood-effect wand
- Double Twist Handle, wood-effect wand
- Full length twist wand
Or... if you have a design of your own, we will try our best to make it a reality!
Each wand will be uniquely hand forged, and will measure approx 27-30cm (11-12"). We will also make sure each wand is rounded at the tip for safety, and will finish by polishing to a beautiful shine, while retaining the hammer marks reminiscent of their forging journey.
- The course day will typically begin at 1000, and run until approximately 1400.
- Safety equipment is provided, but please ensure that you wear non-flammable clothing and sturdy shoes (preferably leather).
- Tea / Coffee will be provided.
- Please note, due to space and safety issues, spectators are not permitted on these courses.
