In this two-day class you will be guided through the process of making a beautiful and functional Bushcraft Knife.

This will be a high-carbon steel knife with a full-tang handle, created to a shape and pattern of your design, with time and care taken to ensure it fits the requirements, including blade length, depth, shape & finish, and handle size, feel, shape & grip.  Typical blade length will be around 6-7", depending on the style required.
Walking you the process, with each step demonstrated live by our instructor, you will learn the skills and techniques necessary to produce a stunning & functional blade.  This  will prove to be the ultimate statement piece, suitable for a lifetime of use.

The agenda for each day will look like this:

Day One
  • Introduction, guide to workshop safety, PPE, and use of equipment
  • Selection of steel and handle materials
  • Crafting the blade and handle shape from the stock steel.
  • Texturing & faceting the knife blank
  • Initial bevel grinding
  • Heat Treating (inc/ normalising, hardening, and tempering)
Day Two
  • Final blade grinding and shaping
  • Hand sanding and finishing the blade
  • Handle pre-shaping & fitting
  • Glue-up of the handles
  • Handle finishing, including final shaping, sanding & polishing
  • Blade sharpening & testing
No prior experience is necessary.

Please note this is a non-forging class.  Participants will design their knife from a length of high-carbon steel and will not be using a hammer/anvil on this class.
