ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE

Forge your very own tomahawk axe in this unforgettable one-day blacksmithing experience.

Starting with a high-carbon steel hammer head, you'll transform it into a beautifully balanced tomahawk using traditional blacksmithing techniques and modern workshop equipment. Guided by our expert instructors every step of the way, you'll heat glowing steel in the forge, shape the axe at the anvil, and refine every detail until it's ready for a lifetime of use.

Throughout the day you'll learn:

  • 🔥 Forge safety and workshop techniques
  • ⚒️ Using a gas forge, hammer, anvil and hydraulic press
  • 🪓 Forging and shaping the tomahawk head
  • ✨ Profiling and refining the finished shape
  • 🔥 Heat treating, including normalising, hardening and tempering
  • 🪵 Selecting, shaping and fitting a wooden handle
  • 🗡️ Sharpening, finishing and testing your completed axe

No previous blacksmithing experience is required. Whether you're looking for an unforgettable day out, a unique gift, or your first step into bladesmithing, we'll guide you through every stage of the process.

By the end of the experience, you'll leave with a fully finished, razor-sharp tomahawk axe handcrafted by you. Perfect as a camp hatchet, for target throwing, or simply as a one-of-a-kind piece you'll proudly own for years to come.
