ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE

Forge your very own wizarding wand in this magical half-day blacksmithing experience.

Step into the forge and discover the ancient craft of shaping hot steel into a unique wand of your own creation. Guided by our expert blacksmiths, you'll heat, hammer and shape a piece of steel at temperatures approaching 1,000°C before adding your own finishing touches to create a truly one-of-a-kind wand.

Throughout the experience you'll learn how to:

🔥 Safely work with a traditional gas forge
⚒️ Shape glowing steel using hammer and anvil
🌀 Add unique twists and details using specialist tools
✨ Refine, polish and finish your wand to create a stunning final piece

Each wand is individually hand forged, making every creation completely unique. Measuring approximately 27–30cm (11–12"), your finished wand will feature the character of traditional blacksmithing, including subtle hammer marks that tell the story of its creation.

Suitable for complete beginners, this experience is perfect for aspiring witches, wizards, fantasy fans and anyone looking for a truly unforgettable gift. No previous blacksmithing experience is required—just bring your imagination and we'll guide you through every step.

By the end of the workshop, you'll leave with a beautifully finished, incredibly durable steel wand that you've forged yourself—an extraordinary keepsake to treasure for years to come.

(Wands are finished with a rounded tip for safety.)

TIMINGS / ADMIN

Morning sessions will typically start at 1000. Afternoon sessions will typically start at 1400. The course should last around 3hrs.
Safety equipment is provided, but please ensure that you wear non-flammable clothing and sturdy shoes (preferably leather).
Tea / Coffee will be provided.
Please note, due to space and safety issues, spectators are not permitted on these courses.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE DAY

STEP ONE

Arrive at the forge and get settled in for the day. Meet your instructor, grab a tea or coffee, explore the workshop, and get to know the fellow makers you'll be sharing the experience with.

STEP TWO

After a thorough safety briefing we'll get downstairs and start working through the forging process. Taught step-by-step, you will see your creation come to life over the course of the day. We'll take regular breaks as the work allows, and answer all questions as we go.

After the day is done, we'll head back upstairs for a short debrief, taking off aprons/PPE. Finally, we'll give some care instructions for the items, and wrap them up safely for the journey home.
